Note to self: степям is a cognate of "Steppes" because it is pronounced "stepyam"

Russia is a language with different connections...

It's just the word steppe, but modified by a case ending

The Russian word for steppe is just степь

Ah maybe I should have worded that differently, I meant poured vodka for the Chinese

But Chinese do have their own version of vodka, it's called baijou (usually 56% or so)
