Translation of a Russian encounter with China's peculiar dinning customs
Note to self: степям is a cognate of "Steppes" because it is pronounced "stepyam"
Russia is a language with different connections...
It's just the word steppe, but modified by a case ending
The Russian word for steppe is just степь
If you haven't walked a mile in someone else's felt boots...
Endlessly fascinating and informative. Tah, it is appreciated.
Thank you!
This was fascinating. Thank you for writing! Also — Chinese vodka? 🤮 and what was in the pipe?
Ah maybe I should have worded that differently, I meant poured vodka for the Chinese
But Chinese do have their own version of vodka, it's called baijou (usually 56% or so)
Gotcha!
