This was fascinating! Thank you for writing. Do Russian historians ever compare Russias drive to the pacific with America’s? The similarity between the two conquests of an “internal” frontier is striking

I'm not sure about Russian historians, I am not well read enough to say, but there is a great English history book on this. "Imperial Visions: Nationalist Imagination and Geographical Expansion in the Russian Far East, 1840–1865" by Mark Bassin. It is about how Russia acquired its Far East territories on the Pacific, and the fears that America or Britain would seize them first
